Diesel Tank guide: everything you to know about types, capacities and accessories

Diesel transport tank

Diesel tanks are a fundamental element to ensure safe and efficient refueling in sectors such as agriculture, industry and logistics. Choosing the right tank requires in-depth knowledge of the various types available, the certifications of conformity and the specific needs of storage or transport.

In this guide we will delve into the main types of tanks offered by Di Camillo, all approved and equipped with certifications of conformity to current regulations, their applications and the criteria for making the best choice in full awareness.

Types of fuel and diesel tanks

When choosing the right tank for your home or business needs, the first decision concerns the type of tank: based on the use and available space, in fact, it is possible to choose between fixed tanks and mobile tanks, and therefore between underground or above-ground tanks in the first case, and different types of tanks for transporting fuel (depending on the means with which to move them) in the second.

Fixed fuel tanks

There are two types of fixed fuel tanks:

Both types of tanks are made of corrosion-resistant S 235 JR carbon steel, protecting both the contents and the surrounding environment from the risk of spills and contamination. Di Camillo tanks are available in both single-chamber and double-chamber versions, in compliance with the Ministerial Decree of 29.11.2002, and can, upon request, be supplied with a dispenser unit to be installed near the tank.

Fixed tanks also include tanks for generator sets, which must therefore guarantee a continuous supply of diesel (and for long periods) to generators and heating systems. These Di Camillo tanks are also made in compliance with the Ministerial Decree of 10 May 2018, as they include a containment tank equal to 50% of the fuel inside the tank.

Tanks approved for fuel transport

For those who need to transport fuel, for example in quarries, construction sites, and in general in places where work vehicles need to be refueled, tanks for transporting diesel, diesel fuel or petrol represent a versatile and practical option. These tanks are equipped with safety systems for handling on the road, with safety valves, integrated pumps and anti-spill structures.

Di Camillo has also created customizable solutions based on the type of vehicle, to ensure transport that is not only safe and compliant with regulations, but also practical and convenient for companies with the need for mobile supplies:

  • Fuel transport tanks with tool box model Dieselbox & Tools, special tanks designed to adapt to most commercial work vehicles (Daily type), for transporting diesel on the road without ADR vehicles or licenses and without the constraint of mandatory inspections every 30 months. The tanks can also be customized based on the space needed for the tools, also providing an additional tank for AdBlue.
  • Tanks for transporting fuel on pickups, in turn ADR certified with total exemption, but designed in their particular shape to optimize positioning on the vehicle, leaving space for additional cargo. Equipped with a dispenser group, diesel pipe and automatic nozzle, they can also be equipped with a digital flow meter and an anti-water and anti-impurity filter if necessary.

Capacity and models: how to choose the right tank

With the exception of tanks for the transport of fuel in ADR exemption (which by law provide for maximum capacities of 440 l for transport in full exemption from specialized vehicles and licenses), Di Camillo diesel tanks come in a variety of capacities (the underground ones, above all, can contain up to 50 thousand liters of diesel, diesel or petrol).

The most common tanks, however, vary from 1000 to 5000 liters, each with specific characteristics and uses:

  • 1000-liter fuel tanks: ideal for residential use, for small farms or for construction sites with limited fuel needs, they offer a balance between capacity and size
  • 5000-liter fuel tanks: perfect for large farms, construction sites and industries that require a significant supply of fuel. These tanks guarantee long autonomy and are suitable for those who have large spaces or intend to store considerable quantities of fuel, and underground versions are also available to reduce the overall dimensions.

Accessories and dispensing systems

In addition to the dispensing systems (already present with some types of tanks), the management of fuel (diesel, petrol or diesel) and supplies can also be simplified thanks to the use of specific accessories for dispensing and monitoring fuel. Di Camillo, in particular, creates and produces:

  • flow meters and pumps for precise monitoring of supplies, so as to prevent waste.
  • Nozzles and safety valves, essential for avoiding spills during refueling operations.
  • Software and control systems for fleet management, which allows you to control the supplies of your company’s vehicles and allow supplies only to authorised personnel, as well as checking stocks and planning the purchase of diesel in advance.
  • CUBE fuel dispensers, with mechanical flow meters and self-supporting quick couplings, easy to install.
  • Panther diesel and petrol dispensers and rotary pumps (in some self-priming models), compact and safe thanks to the mechanical seal, designed to offer reliability and safety in the rapid transfer of petrol, diesel, kerosene, bioethanol and biodiesel.

The choice of a diesel tank cannot therefore be left to chance: the capacity, type and compliance with regulations are decisive factors. For agricultural companies, construction sites and transport companies, an adequate tank guarantees safe and efficient management of fuel, reducing costs and optimising operations.
